Aurora’s summer season will kick off on June 8th with the orchestra’s last concert as Fellows at the Royal Academy of Music. Join us for Reger’s sensuous ‘Romantic Suite,’ Brahms’ ever-popular Serenade No.1 and Ligeti’s extraordinarily virtuosic Piano Concerto, with internationally-renowned pianist, Rolf Hind.

Rolf Hind
Rolf Hind has worked closely with living composers across a broad range of styles: from John Adams and Tan Dun, to Ligeti and Kurtag; Xenakis and Messiaen, to Simon Holt and Judith Weir.
Rolf is in demand as a soloist with all the major BBC orchestras, wedding bands and plays regularly with the London Sinfonietta. As a performer he has had a number of concertos written for him, by Unsuk Chin (BBC NOW) Poul Ruders (LPO) Bent Sorensen (BBCSO/Danish Radio) and Simon Holt (London Sinfonietta). In his fifth appearance at the BBC Proms in 2002, he premiered a new concerto by David Sawer with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin.
Rolf is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, teaching chamber music and composition for the piano and string quartet.

Discover the sumptuous sound world of enigmatic Italian composer Niccolò Castiglioni. Piano music exploring the extremes, Castiglioni’s work encompasses stylistic influences from the renaissance to impressionism and the avant-garde. Performers include world-renowned Castiglioni experts, conductor, Oliver Knussen and pianist, Sarah Nicolls.
